How Sodium Sulfide Works in Flotation
Many oxidized minerals do not respond effectively to conventional sulfide-mineral collectors. Sodium Sulfide is added during conditioning to modify the mineral surface, helping it behave more like a sulfide mineral.
After suitable conditioning, collectors can adsorb more effectively on the target mineral surface. This can support flotation performance and improve the recovery of valuable minerals.
The actual dosage and application method should be determined through laboratory testing and on-site process conditions, including ore composition, pH value, water quality and the reagent system being used.
Typical Mining Applications
Sodium Sulfide is commonly used in the beneficiation of:
- Oxidized copper ores
- Lead and zinc oxide ores
- Mixed oxide-sulfide ores
- Copper, lead and zinc mineral-processing circuits
- Other non-ferrous metal ores requiring sulfidization before flotation
For mixed ores, Sodium Sulfide may be used as part of a broader flotation reagent program together with collectors, frothers, pH regulators and depressants.
